Magick
Magick is the exciting conclusion to the Coven trilogy. Jax needs to learn to master her white witch power, come to terms with the horrible act she has done, and figure out how to bring an end to the dark covens’ reign for good. But no pressure or anything ;-).
I love the Coven series and have been lucky enough to receive Magick (Coven #3) from Netgalley to review (thank you so much!). This is the third book, so there will be spoilers for the first two! Fortunately, you can just pop over to my review for White Witch (Coven #1) and Bane (Coven #2) instead and get started on this awesome series if you haven’t had a chance to yet!

Strengths:
- Delicious writing! I buzzed through Magick faster than any other book this month because I just didn’t want to put it down.
- I really liked the development of the dark/white magic system in Magick. We learned a lot more about the origins (even more than in Bane) and how everything works and it made a lot of sense without being predictable, score :D.
- Jax, Keller, Toni, and Egan are all awesome characters with two adorable romances, daaaaaaaah.
Weaknesses:
- Jax’s internal dialogue can get really overdramatic at times, seriously girl, calm down and stop repeating questions in your head.
- There was a strangeness to the plot tension in Magick. There was a nice amount of tension in the middle as Jax was figuring out her power stuff, but the big epic battle at the end was strangely lacking in tension. Jax basically gained confidence to the point that she really wasn’t worried about much, and therefore the reader isn’t worried about much, which makes the epic battle less… epic. :(
Summary:
Aside from Jax being little overdramatic for my taste (and therefore a very realistic teenager, haha), I have loved ever Coven book I’ve read so far and Magick is no exception. The spin to witches is fun and interesting, the characters are people I would like to actually get to know and the writing sucks you in and won’t let your eyeballs go because you can totally read just one more chapter tonight! If you haven’t checked out this great series yet and you like YA urban fantasy with some witches, do yourself a favor and go go go!
